Day 2 - A retrospective.

Hi all, Alden here with a brief update on my excitement from today...

3am : I guess my Mom & Dad (especially Dad) like to sleep at this time. I think it's the perfect time to make the wetness strip on a diaper change color, scream uncontrollably for 20 minutes even after I'm changed and then grab a late-night snack.

8am : Dr. V the OB swung by to give me a preview of my schedule today. He used lots of big words that made Mom and Dad cringe with sympathy for me. I found sleeping during the day is a great way to pass the time.

Dad's first night of sleep deprivation..

Noon : Dad went to go get Grandma Jezewski, and while Mom rested some hospital people wheeled me down the the nursery. Holy Ouch! - Vaccine pokes, glucose screening jabs, and worse. We'll talk about this part over a drink sometime... I felt much better when Dad met me at the nursery to take me back to meet Grandma Jezewski.

In the arms of a pro: Grandma Jezewski & Alden

1:30pm - I'm pretty cool with this whole Grandma thing.  While my rookie Mom & Dad read books and take copious notes from the nurses, here's someone that seems to have done this a time or two (or three) before.

The rest of the day was mainly spent sleeping, eating, sleeping some more while Mom & Dad spent some time telling their relatives & friends that I had arrived. - I got one e-mail from a really cool sounding kid named Colin that is just 6 days older than me. - We're going to do lunch someday soon to compare notes...

Oh - one last thing... "Alden" is what is short for "Alden",,, "Big Al" was cute - for about 10 minutes !
The boy's name Alden al-den is pronounced ALL-den. It is of Old English origin, and its meaning is "old friend". Surname used as a given name, though unusual.

Alden is a somewhat common first name for men (#889 out of 1220) and an even more common last name for both men and women (#6993 out of 88799). (1990 U.S. Census)
Sounds like I might be going to check out my new crib tomorrow - More on that later !

Alden out.

  1. Congratulations, Dave, that's a sweet baby you've got there! Great name, too. There's a little boy named Alden at our church - very classic sound to it. Congrats again.

Bog Breath

Last week my pumpkin project book was due. I had to do a book report and make a pumpkin look like a character from the book. I chose "Dog Breath." It is about a dog with really stinky breath. They almost got rid of the dog, but she became a hero. She saved her family from some bad guys.

We had an open house on Friday so parents could come see our projects.

Tinker Toys

Big things this week! Trent moved from his toddler bed to a twin bed.

I went to a tinkering day camp and made a wood reindeer. I didn't want to leave when Mom and Dad came to pick me up. We even had a fire. It was fun to toss pine branches on it. It made a cool crackling sound.

Today is my last day of school before break. Yesterday we had our party. Mrs. N went all out! We have stockings, multiple Christmas trees, lights, and she turned our desks into cars on the Polar Express. Mrs. N even works as a part-time elf when she's not teaching. I love hearing her elf stories.

Dog Breath

I really like Nerf. I got to pick out one at Target this weekend for a belated birthday gift from Mommy and Daddy.

I typically cry at hair cuts or demand to wear googles, but tonight I was ok. I didn't cry.

Mommy and I got my pumpkin book project done tonight. I had to make a pumpkin look like a character in a book. We rocked the glue gun. We made the dog's bad breath out of stuffing Betty had pulled out of her dog bed. Creative!
