Summer in the Suburbs

Hot town, summer in the suburbs
Back of my neck getting burnt and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the suburbs

All around, people looking half dead
Strolling on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

But at the pool it's a different world
Go out and find a boat
Come-on come-on and splash all day
Despite the heat it'll be alright

We are all  looking forward to this heatwave breaking!

Junior Consumer

I'm don't quite understand why Mom and Dad try to shop without me if possible. Mom took me grocery shopping today. I opened the box of noodles up to make sure they were fresh and she got really annoyed. I was just trying to help.

Stores are so big and open, I just love to run around them. I love to play hide and seek in the racks.  When it comes time to check-out, I'm there, helping with all the gadgets. I even have my own "credit" card --- the "Hilton Garden Inn" card.

I saw the coolest thing the last time we were at Target. It was a soap bottle with a pig on it. I grabbed it and started oinking. I really wanted it. Mom read the label to me; it was Toy Story soap. They didn't let me keep it and that upset me. Then Mom and Dad chuckled about "marketing to kids works."

PS - Molly was missing from the Baby Steps update photo, but we saw her on Friday to run around the life and science museum.

Fly the Pee Pee Skies

Let me tell you about the rest of my Michigan visit.

I had a lot of fun at the Saginaw Children's Museum. I played a piano, played dentist by pulling teeth from a giant mouth, and splashed in the water table.

On Friday, we went with Quinn and his mom and grandma to the Children's Zoo in Saginaw. It was special to Mom because she went there when she was little too. At first I wasn't so sure about the train ride, but after I got used to it, I wanted more. I now say "whooot" when I see a train because I know all about the whistles. I also got to touch a snake. It was cool! Friday night we went to a park to meet one of Mom's high school friends and her kids (Ethan, Abby, and Autumn).

After being crowded in the middle seat on the way to Michigan, Mom and I hit the jackpot on the way home. We got upgraded to first class. You should see the looks on peoples' faces when they see a toddler settle into first class. I was so excited I drank lots of water. I decid…

Great Lakes, Great Times

I'm having so much fun playing in the water. Let me update you on my adventures. On Friday we got to Grandma and Grandpa J's house. They surprised me with some beach toys and let me play with their hose.

On Saturday I woke up to Aunt Katie, Jenny, and Balex.  We were invited to a family party at Great-Aunt/Uncle Karen's/Pat's house. We almost missed the party. Mom insisted we take a nap. I fought her; I was having too much fun. Well, we ended up falling asleep together. We slept all the way to 5:00 p.m. and the party started at 2. Thankfully they were willing to pull some food back out for us when we got there.

On Sunday we got to Grandma and Grandpa S's lake house. We got on their pontoon boat. At first I was really upset because they made me wear this really uncomfortable straitjacket they referred to as a "life-jacket".  After a while, the curiosity of the boat steering wheel got to me. I helped Uncle Bob drive the boat. I am really skilled at honking …
